OPRE Report 2024-155
Summary
Individual Placement and Support (IPS) is an evidence-based model that aims to help people with serious mental illness find and work at competitive jobs of their choosing. Given the success of IPS for adults with serious mental illness and the prevalence of mental health issues among adults with justice involvement, the Next Generation of Enhanced Employment Strategies (NextGen) Project is examining the implementation and effectiveness of IPS for adults with justice involvement and mental health challenges. This report describes the design of the IPS-AJI program; the context in which it has been implemented; who it serves; key aspects of its implementation; and the cost of the program.
